以史前時代作為舞台，描述在一個恐龍沒有滅亡的世界中，父親去世的小雷龍 Arlo遇上了一場意外而掉入河裡昏迷，醒來時發現自己身在離家遙遠的地方，於是踏上返鄉旅途的他結識了人類小男孩的冒險故事。
